Instructions
- 1
Plan which food you will be serving ahead of the party.
2Place cupcakes on a cupcake tower. If the party will be a small affair, write the names of the guests attending on the cupcakes with an icing pen. A tall cupcake tower will draw they eye upward, adding height to your buffet.
3Serve punch from a cocktail fountain. These can be used for alcoholic drinks at an adult party or with juice for a child's party. Cocktail fountains can be bought online or in party stores.
4Place small signs beside the food to label what each item is. Personalize your food by coming up with fun titles such as "Momma's Secret Recipe Pie" or "Frankie's Fab Fudge Cake." Labels can be bought from retailers who sell party supplies or you can make them by sticking small squares of card stock onto cocktail sticks and writing your description in a calligraphy style.
5Place food on brightly colored party platter plates. Arrange food neatly on the platters by alternating the flavors of sandwiches or fruit. Place a dip in the middle of a platter and arrange crudites around the dip in a colored, coordinated fashion. Well-placed herbs or a drizzle of dressing around the platters will give a professional finish to savory snacks.
6Use a fondue set for melted chocolate or cheese. Place the food to accompany the fondue on wooden skewers around the fondue set. Fondue sets are sometimes best placed on a separate table so that guests can stand, eat and socialize around it without obstructing access to the main buffet table.
7Place small bowls of chips, nuts or other snacks around the room. If the party is busy, sporadically placed food will stop all the guests from loitering at the buffet table at once.
