How to Have a Pink & Purple Party for a 5-Year-Old

How to Have a Pink & Purple Party for a 5-Year-Old

Pink and purple are favorite colors for many 5-year-old girls. You can use these colors to create a birthday party that your daughter and her friends will remember for a long time. Choose a theme that aligns with pink and purple, and then plan your decorations, food and activities from there. Consider what your 5-year-old is interested in, and plan your birthday party accordingly. Does this Spark an idea?

Theme

The first order of business is to choose a theme that coordinates with pink and purple. Princess parties, tea parties and pony parties can all be tailored to be primarily pink and purple. Consider what your 5-year-old daughter is interested in. Ask her what type of party she would like to have and allow her to give input.

Invitations

Once you have chosen a theme, send out pink and purple invitations to coordinate. Include a themed picture on the front of the invitation to build excitement. For example, a pony-party invitation might be pink with a purple pony. A tea party invitation might be purple with a picture of a pink tea set. Add pink and purple details to your invitation using glitter, sequins or stickers. Mail them in pink or purple envelopes.

Decorations

Pink and purple balloons, streamers and confetti are common decorating items when planning a child's party. Include these if you would like, but there are many other ways to decorate for a pink and purple party. Consider your theme. A princess party might have sparkly jewel decorations on the tables. A pony theme might include pink and purple horse cut-outs dangling from the ceilings. Hang pink and purple curling ribbon from the ceilings or scatter confetti on the snack and gift tables. Pink and purple flowers or candles are additional decorating options.

Food

Cover your snack tables with pink and purple tablecloths and supply pink and purple plates, cups, napkins and silverware. Choose foods that are pink and purple as well. Purple grapes and pink apples are nutritious ideas to include in your menu. Tint frosting for the cake or cupcakes with pink or purple food coloring. Use pink and purple sprinkles as well. Cotton candy, chocolate candies, chocolate-covered almonds and cookies are all available in pink and purple hues. Serve pink lemonade or grape juice to match your drinks to your color scheme.

Additional Ideas

Do a pink and purple inspired craft. Provide a pink or purple party hat to each guest. Set out a variety of pink and purple art supplies, such as beads, buttons, colored cotton balls and sequins, and encourage each guest to decorate her hat. Send each guest home with a pink-and-purple gift bag. Include pink and purple candies, pencils, balloons, plastic jewelry or stickers. Gift bags may also include small items that align with your theme.
