How to Clean Cloudy Glass Tables

Glass table tops can become cloudy due to improper cleaning, hard water and lime deposits. There are several household products that can clean the glass and remove the cloudiness. It may take several attempts to find a method that works on your table. Does this Spark an idea?

Ammonia

Add 1 tbsp. ammonia to 1 cup of tap water in a spray bottle.

Spray the solution onto the cloudy glass table. Allow the ammonia to soak into the glass for five minutes.

Use a microfiber cloth or paper towel to wipe the solution from the table. Starting at one end of the table, slowly work your way down the table in a thin, even stroke. Continue cleaning in the same vertical direction until all of the liquid has been removed. If the ammonia looks like it's clearing up the cloudiness, repeat the process until the cloudiness is removed or no more cloudiness is being removed. If the process was ineffective, use a different method.

Petroleum Jelly

Dip a paper towel or soft cloth into petroleum jelly. Apply a thin, even layer over the cloudy glass table.

Allow the petroleum jelly to soak into the glass for 24 hours.

Spray a glass cleaner over the petroleum jelly. Use a soft cloth or paper to remove the jelly and clean the glass. Repeat the process if it is helping. If it is not helping, use a different method.

Denture Cleaner

Dissolve a denture tablet in water, following the manufacturer's directions for the amount of water to use. Pour the contents into a spray bottle.

Spray the denture cleaner onto the cloudy table.

Allow the cleaner to soak into the table for two to five minutes, depending on how cloudy the table is.

Use a soft cloth or paper towel to remove the liquid from the table. Repeat as needed.

Vinegar

Combine equal parts water and vinegar in a spray bottle.

Spray the mixture on the glass table. Allow it to soak into the glass for 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the cloudiness.
