For a race car theme party, you need food that fits the theme and will "recharge" and "fuel" your guests. Give some ordinary party foods a twist; it's simple to do and will add to the fun of the party scene. Whether for a child or an adult, this race car party food will be sure to have everyone racing to the snack table for a bite. Add this to my Recipe Box.
Wheel Cookies
Make race car "wheel" cookies. Use any type of circular cookie, add a bit of frosting in the center and place a candy such as an M&M or Junior Mint in the center to create a hubcap. Or use chocolate doughnuts and write the guest's name on it with frosting or cake decorating gel. For example, write "Henry's Tires."
Car Sandwiches
Make sandwiches of whatever your guest likes, such as turkey, tuna, ham or veggies. Use a car-shaped cookie cutter, and punch out cars. Place these car-shaped sandwiches on your snack food table with a sign that reads "Pit Stop Snacks."
Traffic Light Rice Krispies Treats
Bake a tray of Rice Krispies treats, and cut them into rectangles. Turn the rectangles so they stand vertically. Get several red, yellow and green gumpdrops. Place one large red, yellow and green gumdrop on each rectangle so it looks like a traffic stop light. Attach the gumdrops with frosting or fondant.
Concession Stand
Set up a concession stand where guests can come order their food. Call it "The Pits." Have a board with "fuel up" drink options and one with "Recharge" food options listed on it. Think about food that would be available at the race track, such as nachos, hot dogs, hamburger sliders and pizza.
Racetrack Cake
Make a racetrack cake. Bake two round cakes and stick them together so they form what looks like a big "8" as the racetrack will be a figure-8 design. Frost the edges of the cake with green frosting and then frost the entire top with white frosting. Design the track on the outer edges of the cakes with Oreo cookie crumbles. Create the track divider edges with white cake decorating gel. Use green sprinkles to fill in the center so it looks like grass. Place toy flags and matchbox cars on the track to create the look of a real racetrack.
